Mustselg-tamariin elutseb troopilistes vihmametsades ja jöeäärsetes metsades Amazonase ülemjooksul Kagu-Colombias, Ida-Ecuadoris ja Kirde-Peruus. Graells’s black-mantled tamarin inhabits the tropical rainforests and riverine forests of the upper Amazon Basin in southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, and northeastern Peru. This subspecies primarily feeds on fruits, flowers, nectar, plant exudates, insects, and small vertebrates. The photo was taken in the Ecuadorian Amazon, in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.
