Kawhia rand, Kawhia beach

Tuulise ja metsiku Kawhia Kuuma Vee ranna kõrged düünid Uus-Meremaa Põhjasaarel, Tasmani mere rannikul. Ranna nimi tuleb sellest, et kui mõõna ajal labidas ranna tumedasse, vulkaanilisse liiva lüüa, hakkab sealt immitsema sooja, geotermaalse päritoluga vett. Vee keskmine temperatuur on 45 kraadi, kuid see võib ulatuda ka 60 kraadini. Seega pärast enese karastamist jahedas merevees, on võimalik mõnusalt looduslikus kuumaveevannis üles soojeneda.

High dunes of the windy and wild Kawhia Hot Water beach on the North Island of New Zealand, by the Tasman Sea. The name derives from the fact that if during the low tide one digs a hole into the dark sand of the beach, warm geothermal water starts oozing out. The average temperature of water is 45 degrees Celsius but it can even go up to 60 C. So after a short dip into the much colder sea water, one can afterwards relax in the natural hot tub.
