Ruapehu mägi

Ruapehu mägi on Uus-Meremaa suurim aktiivne vulkaan ja ühtlasi Põhjasaare kõige kõrgem mägi - 2797 meetrit. Kuigi tegemist on tulemäega, mis on olnud aktiivne üle 250 000 aasta ning ka viimase 10 aasta jooksul on olnud mitmeid intsidente (sh paar korda ka pursanud vett, muda ja kive paarisaja meetri kõrgusele õhku), on Ruapehu talveperioodil siiski hinnatud suusapiirkond. Mäesuusakuurortid asuvad lausa kahel erineval nõlval. Ruapehu asub Tongariro Rahvuspargi territooriumil, Põhjasaare keskosas.

Mount Ruapehu is the largest active volcano in New Zealand and in the same time the highest mountain on the North Island - 2790 metres. Although it's been active for over 250 000 years and there have been numerous incidents in the past 10 years (incl. couple of eruptions of mud, water and rocks), Ruapehu is still a very popular mountain skiing area in winter. Major ski resorts are situated on two different slopes of the mountain. Mount Ruapehu is situated in Tongariro National Park, in central North Island.
