Kroontikat, Onychorhynchus mexicanus

Kroontikat on troopilise Ameerika kärbsenäpp, kes on oma nime saanud selle järgi, et isaslinnul on peas uhke kroon, mille ta vajadusel püsti ajab. Kroon kujutab endast suurt, oranžide sulgedega lehvikut ning näeb päris efektne välja. Kahjuks tol päeval ei näinud lind vajadust oma krooni presenteerimiseks, mistõttu selle vihmametsa pimedas tihnikus jälgis meid lihtsalt üks pruun lind. Northern Royal Flycatcher is a tropical American flycatcher that has got its name from the fancy crown of the male bird that it can raise if necessary. This crown consists of bright orange feathers and it looks quite extravagant. Unfortunately on that day the necessity of showing the crown did not present itself and therefore we just observed a plain brown bird in rainforest dark undergrowth.
