Kanakull, Accipiter gentilis, Northern goshawk, kull, hawk
Kanakull on Eestis range kaitse all, sest lindude elupaikade arv väheneb.
Northern Goshawk is strictly protected in Estonia due to the loss of habitat. There are around 500 pairs nesting in our country but in winter the numbers are growing as our hawks do not migrate to south but the are some climate refugees coming in from the north. Goshawk is not a bird of prey that circles in a sky or stands on a pole in plain sight. It is very secretive and attacks unexpectedly, so seeing the bird is quite a rare occasion. This juvenile goshawk also appeared above the reed bed suddenly and then was gone in seconds. Harjumaa, Estonia.
