Väikekormorani peamine elupaik on Austraalia, kuid teda leidub ka Uus-Meremaa põhjaosas. Tegemist on karjalinnuga, mistõttu ei ole haruldased ka rohkem kui sajast linnust koosnevad kolooniad. See kormoran aga passis täiesti üksinda Waikanae jõe suudmealal, Uus-Meremaa Põhjasaarel.

The main habitat of Little Black Shag is Australia but it is also found in northern New Zealand. They are highly gregarious species therefore it is not unusual to see flocks of over 100 birds. This guy, though, was all alone in Waikanae Estuary, New Zealand North Island.

Uusmeremaa kellalind (kui teha otsetõlge inglise keelest) on selle maanurga endeemne liik ja neil läheb üllatavalt hästi. Kui farmide loomine ja metsa maha võtmine hoogustus, hakkas väga paljudel kohalikel liikidel kehvasti minema, kellalinnul samamoodi. Kuid mingil seletamatul põhjusel suutis see väike roheline linnuke ühel hetkel trendi murda ja leidub neid praegu kõikjal Uus-Meremaal. Foto sai tehtud Tongariro rahvuspargis.

New Zealand Bellbird is an endemic species in that corner of the earth and they are doing surprisingly well. Introduction of European-style farming and the removal of native forests seriously affected the population and distribution of local species, bellbird included. But for some unknown reasons this small olive-coloured bird managed to reverse the trend and the species is still common across much of New Zealand. The photo was taken in Tongariro National Park.

This subspecies of Plain prinia is found only in Taiwan but the habitat of the prinia is from Pakistan to South-East Asia. The bird is insectivorous and is a fine example of the category "little brown bird". :) The photo was taken in Sicao wetland, Taijiang National Park, Taiwan.

Seda kummalisem on tema välimuse kohastumine - selle asemel, et olla rohekaspruun, et keskkonda paremini ära kaduda, on tegemist hoopis väga kirju linnuga. The main activity of Lesson's motmot or Blue-diademed Motmot is to sit silently on a shady spot and wait for the prey. Its plumage, though, is not really adapted for this kind of behaviour. Instead of being a greenish-brown bird, this motmot is really colourful.  The photo was taken in Curi-Cancha Reserve in Monteverde cloud forest, Costa Rica.
