Punakael-rüdi, Calidris ruficollis

Nimeks on küll punakael-rüdi, kuid pildil pole punasest haisugi. Põhjus selles, et punane värv lööb välja siis, kui läheb tundras pesitsemiseks. Pilt on aga tehtud Sicao märgalal Taijiangi rahvuspargis, Taiwanis, mil lind on teel lõunasse talvekorterisse. Seal pole kirevaid värve tarvis.

The name is indeed "red-necked stint," but there's no sign of red in the photo. The reason is that the red color appears when it goes to nest in the tundra. However, the photo was taken in the Sicao Wetlands of Taijiang National Park in Taiwan, while the bird was on its way south to its wintering grounds. There, bright colors are not needed.
