Küla-turteltuvi, Spilopelia senegalensis cambayensis

Küla-turteltuvi nimi inglise keeles on naerev tuvi ning see on minu hinnangul palju täpsem liigikirjeldus. Näiteks oma reisil Omaani kuulsin nende hääli ühel hilisõhtul hotelli lähedal puuvõras ning ma olin üsna veendunud, et hommikul saan sealt papagoipilte. Hommikul aga loomulikult selgus, et need kõvahäälsed karjujad olid needsamad küla-turteltuvid. See foto sai tehtud ühe maailma suurima karstilehtri - Tayqi neeluaugu - lähistel, Dhofari regioonis, Omaanis.

Laughing Dove is a very precise description of the species. On one late evening on my trip to Oman I was pretty convinced that there are parrots on a tree near our hotel and was ready to capture the photos next morning. As it of course turned out the loud cooing was done by the doves. This photo was taken near one of the largest sinkholes in the world - Tayq sinkhole - in Dhofar region, Oman.
