Eesti talve kalliskivi - jäälind. Vaid väga vähesed neist julgevad põhjamaa talve trotsima jääda, sest see on paras loterii. Jäälind vajab ellujäämiseks voolavat vett, seega kui tuleb erakordselt käre pakane ning kodujõgi kinni külmub, on kahjuks ka linnu elupäevad loetud. Pildil oleval isend elutseb aga Harjumaal, ühe kiirevoolulise jõe kaldal, mistõttu võib üsna kindel olla, et kevad tal nägemata ei jää.
The gem of Estonian winter - Common Kingfisher. Only a few are brave enough to winter here in the north as it can be quite a lottery. Kingfisher needs open water to feed itself and if the winter happens to be extremely cold and the "home river" freezes over, there is no chance that the bird survives. The guy on the photo lives by the fast flowing creek in Harjumaa, Estonia, therefore you can be rather confident that he will see spring this year.
