Rukkirääk on veendunud jooksja ja seetõttu ka jooksmises väga hea.
Vajadusel suudab lind joostes ka jahikoera eest plehku panna, eriti kui
mõõduvõtuks läheb kõrge rohuga heinamaal. Kunagi arvati, et sügiseti läheb
rääk ka lõunamaale jala, kuid tegelikult siiski lendab ja päris kiiresti.

Corn crake is a convinced runner and therefore very good at it. If
necessary it can outrun dogs, especially when the "race" takes place in
high grass. In the past there was even belief that it will migrate south
also by walking but this is not true - crake does fly during migration
and flies quite fast. The photo is taken in Harjumaa, Estonia.
