Ööhaigur, Nycticorax nycticorax

Ööhaigur on väga laia haardega lind - teda leidub peaaegu üle kogu maailma. Nii Ameerikates, Euroopas, Aasias kui ka Aafrikas. Pildil nähtav asend on just selline, milles ööhaigrud enamuse oma päevadest veedavad - seistes ühe jala peal, kusagil veekogu kaldal või võserikus. Aktiivsed on linnud õhtuti ja öösiti ning sellise käitumise peamiseks põhjuseks peetakse seda, et päeval jäävad nad toidu eest võideldes teistele haigrutele ja hüüpidele alla. Black-crowned Night-heron is a very widespread bird - you can find it almost all around the globe. In Americas, Europe, Asia and also Africa. The pose on the photo is a standard position in which these herons usually spend their days - standing on one foot by a river or a lake or in the thicket. The birds are active in the evening and at night and it is believed that it's because they are dominated by other herons and egrets by day.
