Hiline õhtupoolik Läänemaal. Märkasin rannakarjamaal rohu sees mingeid kahtlaseid mättaid ning samal hetkel "mättad" märkasid ka mind.
Late evening in Läänemaa, Estonia. I noticed some weird tufts on a coastal meadow and at the same moment the "tufts" saw me as well. In this case the tuft was a partridge.
On the contrary of the usual course of action, these Grey Partridges did not fly away. Instead they pressed themselves against the ground and started moving away very slowly. About one step every two seconds. This sneaking away looked really hilarious as the birds were doing that out in the open.
Arriving in long grass they stopped, probably assuming that their perfect getaway maneuver was a great success. I sneaked a bit closer but as soon as they put their heads down again, they were gone - I could not find the birds anymore.
