Mustviires on Eestis pigem haruldane tiirlane, keda võib hea õnne korral kohata madalate veekogude äärsetes roostikes. Tegemist on äärmiselt hääleka linnuga ja väga osava lendajaga (kellel tänu lennuosavusele praktiliselt looduslikke vaenlasi polegi). Vastupidiselt oma tiirudest sugulastele, ei püüa nad kala, vaid hoopis veepinna peal ja kohal olevaid putukaid. Foto tehtud Tartumaal.
Black Tern is rather rare tern species in Estonia. If you are lucky, you can find the bird in the reed bed near the shallow water bodies. This tern is a very loud avian and also a very skillful flyer (even as skillful that it practically does not have any natural enemies). In contrast to the other tern species, black tern does not fish but instead catches insects that are on or above the water. The photo is taken in Tartumaa, Estonia.
