Väikepütt, Tachybaptus ruficollis capensis

Mõned ülesvõtted Eestiski kohata võiva väikepüti Aafrika lähisugulasest. Nagu nimigi ütleb, on tegemist väikese linnuga - üle 30 cm pikkus ei ulatu. 
Some shots of Little Grebe or Dabchick, an african cousin of the bird you can find also in Europe. As the name suggests this bird is quite tiny - it does not grow over 30cm long.

Väikepütt on väga hea ujuja ning sukelduja, kuid maa peal jääb ta jänni. Seda just seetõttu, et jalad asuvad linnul (nagu ka fotolt näha) keha tagumises otsas ja proovi sa siis ringi tatsata kui enamus sinu raskuskeskmest on tasakaalupunktist selgelt eespool.
This grebe is an excellent swimmer and diver but it struggles on land as its legs are set very far back (as you can see from the photo). You can imagine how difficult is to walk when most of your bodyweight is way before your balance point.
