Nyala on selle antiloobi suahiilikeelne (ja ka ingliskeelne) nimi (eestikeelset nime ma ei leidnud) ning tegemist on üsna argliku loomaga. Harva näeb neid osaliselt ka seetõttu, et kui ilm läheb väga palavaks (üle 30 kraadi), siis puhkavad nad võsas ja vihmahooajal toituvad hoopis öösiti. The name "nyala" is the swahili name for this antelope and it is quite a shy animal. Another reason why you do not see them often, is the fact that when the weather is hot (over 30 C), these animals prefer resting in the bushes and during the rainy season even feed at night. Their diet consists of fruits, twigs, foliage and flowers. The natural habitat of nyalas is in the south-eastern part of the African continent (from Malawi to Swaziland).
