Koolibriliik, kes elutseb peamiselt Kesk-Ameerikas, kuid ka Kolumbia põhjaservas, rannikuäärsetel aladel. Iseenesest lind
kodupaikade osas väga valiv pole - ühtemoodi sobivad nii mangroovid,
kuivad metsad, metsade servad ja sihid ning muud avatud piirkonnad.
Ainuke, mida ta väldib, on suurte igihaljaste metsade sisealad (ehk siis

Scaly-breasted Hummingbird is found in Central America and in the
coastal region of Northern Colombia. The bird is not very picky when
it comes to habitats - equally suitable are dry forests, edges
and clearings of galleries, mangroves and other open habitats. But it
specifically avoids the interior of closed evergreen forests (so you
cannot find this hummingbird deep in the woods). Sarapiqui
