Hangelind, Plectrophenax nivalis

Hangelind on uus tulija siin blogis ning tegelikult on läinud päris mitu aastat mööda sellest, kui teda üldse siinmail viimati kohtasin. Nagu nimigi viitab, on tegemist talilinnuga, kes muide eelistab lausa magada lume all (et ära ei külmuks). Laekub ta Arktikast ja tundrast kusagil oktoobris ning lahkub põhja poole tagasi uuesti hiljemalt aprillis. Kõige suurem tõenäosus teda kohata on siiski rändeperioodil, sest meie talve jääb nautima vaid kuni 1000 lindu. Foto tehtud Harjumaal.

Snow Bunting is a new entry for this blog and several years have passed since I even saw this bird in our country the last time. As the name suggests, it is a winter bird and it usually even sleeps under the snow. They arrive in Estonia from the Arctics and tundra in October and fly back in April the latest. The biggest probability to see this bird here, though, is during the migration as only handful of birds (less than 1000) spends its winter in our country. The photo is taken in Harjumaa, Estonia.
