Pruunõgija antud alamliiki kutsutakse vahest ka Filipiinide pruunõgijaks, sest ta talvitub peamiselt Filipiinidel ja Taiwanis. Peamiseks erisuseks põhiliigist on hallikas pea (pealiigil on see pruun) ja kitsam "mask". Foto sai tehtud Kentingi rahvuspargis, Taiwani lõunatipus.
This subspecies of brown shrike is sometimes called Philippine brown shrike as it winters mainly in the Philippines and Taiwan. The most distinctive features are narrower supercilium and light grey crown as the nominate's crown and nape are brown. The photo was taken in Kenting National Park, in the southern tip of Taiwan.
