Suurmasaama, Mazama temama

Jah, ongi selline nimi - suurmasaama. Ilmselt eestikeelse nime panija kõkutas veel mitu nädalat hiljem oma loometöö vilja üle. Igatahes tegemist on väikese hirvelisega nimega masaama ning see liik on masaamadest suurim - õlakõrgus isegi kuni 80 cm maapinnast. Elutseb ta Kesk-Ameerika ja ka Kolumbia loodenurga metsades, kuigi kõrgmäestikke väldib. Fotod tehtud Curi-Cancha kaitsealal, Monteverde pilvemetsas, Costa Ricas.

Central American Red Brocket is the largest of brocket deer species - shoulder height up to 80 cm. It can be found in the forests of Central America and north-western Colombia but the brocket avoids higher altitudes. The photos are taken in Curi-Cancha Reserve, Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica.
