Suurhoko ei ole teab mis osav lendaja, metsa all eelistab ta
toiduotsingutel hoopis ühest kohast teise kõmpida ning vajadusel ka
joostes põgeneda. Kui aga lennusoov peaks siiski tekkima, on vaatepilt
tavaliselt selline imelik lipa-lapa tiibadega rassimine, et kuhugi
kõrgemale oksale jõuda. Aga kui sissetungija (nt inimene) tema poegadele
liiga ligidale satub, võib lind vabalt ka rünnata ja enamasti üritab hoko

Great Curassow is a very poor flier, it rather uses its long legs to
forage for food on the ground and flee for safety into the deep cover of
its forest home. If the flight is unavoidable, the bird either glides or
flutters awkwardly, with labored wingbeats, to reach higher ground. When
a potential predator is near their offspring, curassows may attack even
humans, targeting the head and the eyes. Arenal Volcano National
